September 4th, 2009

About 3 years ago Vance and I were discussing getting married. It seemed like a sure thing, then tons of stuff happened (life), and well, 3 years, a few seperations and 1baby later, WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!!!

I know, that doesn't exactly seem very cheerful.
Don't read into it too much. I'm excited! It has taken a long time for us to get to this point and well, we're finally here. I wish that I had more time to plan the wedding, but I'm sure I can pull something off in the time given.

I know I told everyone that it was the last thing on my mind, which in some ways it was. Especially between raising Miles, planning all of the baby showers, the South Austin Pregnancy Center meetings and the other 50 million things I had filling my time, I really didn't have time to plan a wedding.
Actually, that's part of why I am stressed. Thursday and Friday from 9am-4pm both days is the volunteer training for the South Austin Pregnancy Center. Keep in mind, it's in San Marcos so that adds 2 hours for traveling (to and from) and then I live in Blanco, which adds 30min. So really, 7:30am-5:30pm. That takes my entire day away!
All I can think of is, "I only have 3 months to plan everything!" which makes me not want to show up to the trainings, want to drop out of the SAPRC for right now period.
Truthfully, I'm mainly just going to the training just to get it out of the way.
Once we are married in September, I will be living in San Marcos. I would be able to volunteer at the one in San Marcos or the one in Austin off of Manchaca. The catch is... without mom and dad around, I won't have anyone to babysit Miles' for a few hours until Vance gets home, which by then both centers will be closed for the day.
It really doesn't work with my schedule, but I will have the training to fall back on whenever I am able to start volunteering again.

Anyway, back to wedding talk.
Last Sunday (May 31st) we had the "marriage" talk and decided to get married. There wasn't any big, romantic proposal, which does kind of suck, but after all that we have been through, as many times as we have talked about getting married, and the fact that we have developed a family already, the important thing is that it's finally happening, for sure this time!
We have set the date for September 4th, 2009. We want to do it this summer but with as much planning time as possible, so I chose Labor Day Weekend.

The ceremony, which will just be family and a few close friends, will be in Port Aransas on the beach at sunset. The reception will be the following weekend back in Austin or one of the surrounding cities in the evening. September 12th at 6pm. There we will invite just about everyone we know.

Here's the catch though... even though the reception will be somewhat like a traditional reception that follows a ceremony, with cake, toasting, dancing, food, etc we want it to be a little more casual. I will be wearing the dress that I originally bought for a much larger ceremony, but, and this may sound kind of redneckish, the guys in my family will BBQ.
The trick is finding a location that allows this AND allows alcohol on the premisis.

I have started planning already. I am close to completing the guest list. This weekend Vance and I will pick up invitations. Tuesday I am going to register at Target, register wherever we choose to go for the second place, look at the BM dresses with two of my BM's and then I have to go to my meeting for the SAPRC. Needless to say, Miles will be with me at that one.

Ohh, and Miles' birthday is June 17th! I can't believe my little man is going to be 1!!! His party is going to be on the 20th, which is going to be awesome!

I also have pictures from Julia's baby shower.
I need to get Vance to give me the pictures from Dana's birthday party, they're on his computer.
